Huawei are one of the biggest telecommunications equipment companies in the world. They are huge in China although their kit is used the world over. Chances are if you are a BT Broadband customer you are using modems build by them. Huawei make no bones about their desire to become one of the biggest smartphone manufacturers in the world, and a couple of years ago they started their assault on the European market. I reviewed the G300 and found it to be a stunning budget range phone. The Huawei Read more [...]
Sony to reveal Jelly Bean roadmap
Sony are the perpetual under dog that now seems capable of giving Samsung a couple of slaps in their fat corporate face. With news this week that Sony have overtaken HTC in the UK as the second largest Android phone maker, the Japanese giant are set to announce which of their 2012 smartphone range will get an upgrade to Jelly Bean. The current flagship device, the Xperia T looks like a dead cert for the Android 4.2 treatment, but what about their more recent (and notable) success, the Read more [...]
No Xperia Nexus according to Sony MD
Rumours of a Sony Xperia Nexus device are being quashed with the quote from Sony UK MD Pierre Perron. In an interview with CNET, he claims the that a Nexus type device would not provide the “unified user experience” offered by other devices. “Our strategy is to offer a unified user experience, convergence and so on. It’s incompatible with a vanilla product that just provides Ice Cream Sandwich.” Marketing Director Catherine Cherry continued that ”[Google has] taken a lot of the improvements Read more [...]
Sony Xperia U Review
ony are the perennial under achievers of Android. Never having a hit on their hands, under the guise of Sony Ericsson they have still received a few plaudits. Despite the lack of success, at lease Sony are distinctive. While the LGs and Samsungs form a melange of monolithic slabs, Sony have a bit of style. A bit of grace. That is until the NXT series of phones, which was marked by the buyout of Ericsson and a new…monolithic slab like appearance. Face palm, Sony. Ouch. We’re going to dig a Read more [...]
Sony unveil the Xperia T and Xperia J for the UK
Sony have unveiled three new Android phones at the IFA trade fair. The Sony Xperia T and Sony Xperia J mark two ends of the smartphone spectrum and out of these, the Sony Xperia T is the high-end device. Boasting a dual core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, it will be pretty nippy. Sony have long had a problem with putting the latest high end processors in the their phones, so it is a shame not to see the S4 Pro, but this is far from a slow chip. The camera in true Sony style is a 13 megapixel Read more [...]

Google readying Nexus class phones from LG, Samsung and Sony
In what I consider to be the best news all week, it appears there is evidence to suggest the remaining three of the infamous Nexus Five will be devices by LG, Samsung and Sony. And they all appear to be phones quashing rumours of a 10 inch Nexus tablet. The phones, listed as the Xperia NEXUS, and Galaxy Nexus II all come from the phone related branding of Sony and Samsung respectily. There is a slim chance that the Optimus Nexus could be a tablet as LG’s offerings in the UK certainly carried the Read more [...]
Sony readies Xperia S refresh
Sony is refreshing it's 2012 Xperia line with a slight tweak of the Xperia S flagship phone. In a similar way to the bump in specification that the Arc got last year, the S will be the recipient of a faster Snapdragon S3 processor in the form of a 1.7GHz chip opposed to the previous 1.5GHz. Ther Xperia SL, as it may be known, will come with Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. And there will be a range of additional colour options including silver and the bizarre pink. Via ePrice.
