Nvidia Tegra 3 tablets aimed at sub-£130 bracket incoming

Nvidia wants value end tablets on the market as soon as possible according to an article in the New York Times. They are targeting the sub-$199 price point and wants to see them hit the shelves this summer. Spurned in by the sales of the Amazon Kindle Fire, and following lacklustre sales of top end Android tablets, the Taiwanese chipset vendor clearly thinks the value tier is where they can make the most money. Nvdia’s CEO, Jen-Hsun Huang, also fired a warning shot against Android tablet manufacturers Read more [...]

Kobo Vox - Android Tablet and eReader

Kobo Vox brings the Fire fight to Amazon

One benefit of owning a Samsung Galaxy Note is the Readers Hub functionality which is a slightly longer drawn out way of accessing the excellent Kobo ebook app. I don’t mind saying that I like the Kobo software very much. While it is not head an shoulders better than Amazon’s Kindle, it just seems to feel better for some reason. And isn’t the enjoyment factor one of the most important aspects of reading after all? Amazon Kindle Fire reviews surface

Amazon’s Kindle Fire is new winging its way across the USA to salivating punters eyeing a bargain tablet and reviews are springing up. I would urge readers to check out the exhaustingly in-depth review from The Verge a read as it ticks all the boxes. Overall, they think it’s a great piece of kit, albeit with a few caveats. Kindle Fire hits nearly one third of first day iPad sales in pre-orders

Amazon’s Kindle Fire has hit nearly one third of first day iPad sales in pre-orders alone. The sales data released by the online retail monolith indicate the $200 Android based tablet is a serious contender to take a chunk out of Apple’s market share. In comparison, the iPad sold 300,000 in the first day alone, but the Amazon tab is looking good with 95,000 pre-orders. Touched and padded from @phandroid: http://phandroid.com/2011/10/03/kindle-fire-poised-to-be-an-amazon-hit-as-presales-reach-nearly-100000-on-first-day/ Read more [...]

What exactly is Amazon up to?

Over at MondayNote.com, Jean-Louis Gassée has a few interesting points on the Amazon Kindle release, Nokia’s babblings about an operating system for dummies non-smart phones and why exactly Google are not jumping over the moon at seeing a potential competitor rise in the form of Amazon. Well worth a read (despite Jean-Louis’ over enthusiasm for Florian Mueller’s Foss Patents blog, as Florian has an overly pro-Apple stance from what I’ve read and I still don’t agree in the overly protectionist Read more [...]
