Gingerbread still rules the Android roost

The is a significant amount of effort put into moaning about why software is not upgraded. Unfortunately, most users just simply do not care, or know why they should care. Gone are the days where Android phones needed to be upgraded desperately - the fact is that with Gingerbread, Google pretty much nailed the stability and usability issues. Once phones such as the old Galaxy S got the 2.3 update, they were very good indeed. I appreciate Google’s willingness to push things forward, and I Read more [...]

ICS Acer Liquid Glow does not melt the wallet

UK retailer Expansys is now shipping the Acer Liquid Glow, a budget handset sporting Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. Android Ice Cream Sandwich use on the up

We don’t normally refer to the Android version stats, largely because it is a useless marker to anyone who is not interested in spreading Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt (a.k.a. FUD). Huawei G300 to get Ice Cream Sandwich soon

Inquirer are running a pretty small but important story related to the upgrade of the Huawei G300 Android to Ice Cream Sandwich. Although there is an interview, there is next to no detail to be confirmed other than it is in it’s second testing cycle and should be with consumers “sooner rather than later”. The piece also oddly tries to pick a fight with HTC over a lack of ICS for the Desire HD, as if specification is the predetermined factor for the upgrade to be delivered. It is not as clearly Read more [...]

Sony launch Ice Cream Sandwich’d Walkman F800

Sony's Walkman brand is one of the most iconic in modern music. Or rather it was up till around 10 years ago. Since then, digital music has meant that the demand for tape, CD and minidisc players has all but been wiped out thanks to the Apple iPod. But Sony are clearly not giving up, as evidenced by the Walkman F800 series personal media player.  These devices are finding it tough at present, but there is still a market. After all, Apple still sell millions of iPod Touch devices every year Read more [...]
