Huawei Ascend G300 gets Ice Cream Sandwich

I am a fan of the Huawei Ascend G300 Android and despite it being a few months old hold that it is the best way to relieve yourself of £100 at the moment. That rationale is further supported with the news that Vodafone have released Android 4 for the thrifty handset. Upgrading via an over the air update might be a problem but it should be worth it just to run Chrome on the phone. Via: Eurodroid.   Read more [...]

Huawei G300 to get Ice Cream Sandwich soon

Inquirer are running a pretty small but important story related to the upgrade of the Huawei G300 Android to Ice Cream Sandwich. Although there is an interview, there is next to no detail to be confirmed other than it is in it’s second testing cycle and should be with consumers “sooner rather than later”. The piece also oddly tries to pick a fight with HTC over a lack of ICS for the Desire HD, as if specification is the predetermined factor for the upgrade to be delivered. It is not as clearly Read more [...]

Currently, Vodafone in the UK has the exclusivity on the handset, and is selling it on Pay As You Go for a meagre £100 plus top up. Usdially, PAYG phones are locked down tight, requiring some nefarious handiwork or a payment to the network to release it. But we knoe of people who have the G300 who have taken it to be unlocked only to be told that it is not necessary. Case inpoint: a Tesco Mobile Read more [...]

Android Tablets Hit sub-£100 Mark

Android tablets have reached a new low price point with UK retailer Expansys offering the Huawei S7 slim for £99.99. The 2011 refresh of the original funnily enough slims things down a bit, but still offers what many would consider to be a sub-standard 768MHz processor and outdated Android 2.2 Froyo. The screen runs at a resolution of 800 x 480 which is ok but really, the tablet will not offer a fantastic user experience. It’s all down to what you will want it for. And when you compare the spec Read more [...]
