Australian courts overturn Samsung Galaxy Tab ban

Apple has lost its injunction against Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in an Australian federal court. As of Friday afternoon, the Tab can be freely sold and advertised. This represents a significant step in the ongoing battle between the two companies which has been waging for several months. The Guardian article gives an overview of the whole sorry saga and seems to indicate that the judgment is far more problematic for Read more [...]

Did Apple Photoshop the Galaxy Tab for Court?

Engadget has an interesting story on whether Apple have been sneaky and done some Photoshop work on the documentation submitted to the German court last week that culminated in the EU import ban. “The comparison shot you see up there is lifted from page 28 of a filing made by Freshfields Bruckhaus Derringer, Apple’s European lawyers. Both devices look pretty identical with an aspect ratio of 4:3 — except in reality, the Tab has a 16:10 aspect ratio and is far narrower than Steve’s magical Read more [...]

So good news for UK consumers so far… Remember to use the Twitter hash tag #FreeTheGalaxyTab @AndroidGenus if you are at all put out by the Apple instigated ban. If not…then don’t bother. Apple prevents Galaxy Tab sale in UK | #FreeTheGalaxyTab

It looks like Apple have struck a major blow against rivals Samsung by taking legal action in Germany to prevent the new Galaxy Tab 10.1 from being sold across most EU countries. The Telegraph reports that the injunction prevents Samsung from advertising or selling the tablet in all countries including the UK, where it has been released in the last week. Some commentators have mentioned that Apple have been quite canny in picking Germany as its base for the European attack on Samsung due to the Read more [...]
