Apple playing games with the Samsung “Apology”

Days after being told to reword the Samsung statement as ordered by the UK court, Apple have done just that. The statement is now much more to the point and lacks the counter quotes from Court rulings outside of the UK. That said, Apple has been a little bit cheeky (some would say contemptuous) in the way the the homepage hyper-link is presented. According to The Register, the home page now has the inclusion of some Javascript code which forces the page to resize the advert at the top Read more [...]

Apple “apology” appears in UK press

It was a matter of time but Apple have finally gotten around to printing their clarification of allegations made in British courts that Samsung copied the design of the iPad. The advert on page 5 of today’s Guardian is somewhat more reserved than their pithy response from their website. It is pretty matter of fact to be honest, which is probably the more intelligent way of burying the story on the same day that the iPad mini goes on sale. The interesting part is the clear statement that there is Read more [...]

iPad mini launch - compares Nexus 7

Apple guns for Google in the iPad mini announcement

Apple has unveiled the iPad mini today, and during the announcement it was clear that they had the Asus Nexus 7 in its sights. For the first time, Apple has directly compared an Android tablet to an iPad and wound up the reality distortion field to 10 in a bid to convince that the new fondleslab was the only gig in town. Unfortunately I have to disagree. Obviously this is an Android blog and I would appear biased. I am clearly very biased. But I like to think that I can maintain a sensible view Read more [...]

Samsung slowly cutting supplier ties with Apple

Android Authority has an interesting item taken from the Korean Times which states, via an anonymous executive, that the Samsung will no longer supply LCD panels to Apple. If true, it looks as though the recent legal wranglings may be reducing the benefit of the doubt for Samsung. While Apple and Samsung were knocking seven bells out of each other in the courts, there have been invisible walls put up between Samsung Divisions in internally. The side of the company that makes LCD panels is Read more [...]

So that is the iPhone 5? Oh. Sorry.

Apple are a company that should be pushing things. They should be creating products that create markets. Give features that no one realised they wanted but find it difficult to ignore. And the iPhone 5 is none of this. The Apple “event” that has just ended and is somewhat of a damp squib. This is for many reasons, but most predominantly because everything was leaked. But also because there are no new big ticket features. The design from afar is a stretched iPhone 4 which is apparently very impressive Read more [...]

Samsung on an iPad

Samsung declares Android multitouch inferior to Apple

In a bid to slime their way out of a sales ban from the Netherlands, Samsung have admitted that Apple’s multitouch implimentation is “a very nice invention”. Apple are not too happy with the Korean company for infringing their ”touch event model” patent, which depicts a way of circumventing accidental presses of two buttons at the same time. The Inquirer reports: Good old Samsung. Past catching up with you again eh? Via The Inquirer(http://s.tt/1mVa9) Read more [...]

Samsung Galaxy S - Glossy and bright

Lesson to Android: Apple will get you if you copy

When I first took out my shiny Samsung Galaxy S I uttered a little chortle. I put it next to my iPod Touch and thought that someone had been at the photocopier. There is no mistaking that the original Samsung Galaxy S was strikingly similar to the iPhone 3G. It is pretty blatant. So why would I buy something which is a ‘copy cat’? Well, I did not want an iPhone, and I did want the best Android on the market, which the Galaxy S was. But there were many design elements that I found unappealing. TouchWiz Read more [...]
