Tegra 3 tablets from Acer, Lenovo and Samsung in the works
Taiwanese gadget news site DigiTimes has revealed Acer, Lenovo and Samsung have Android tablets based on the Nvidia Tegra 3 quad core chip set. Concern seems to be expressed by them that it is nigh on impossible to compete with either Apple at the top end of the tablet spectrum or now Amazon at the bottom end.
They quote that these manufacturers have "have
no advantage to compete" but I'd beg to differ. Recent plaudits hurled at the Asus Transformer indicate that there are alternatives that tick all the boxes, and certainly while prcies are as high as the Apple iPad 2 manufacturers will suffer. But manufacturers are slowly wising up to consumer demand being price dependant. It would not surprise me to see the recently reduced Transformer sailing into the top of the charts and certainly for £279 is cannot be beaten.
Digitimes should give consumers some credit – they are not all dumb automatons strangled by brand loyalty.
